MEDIA RELEASE: Victorian Chamber launches the Victoria Summit 2021 Playbook – a vision for a better, brighter future for our state
After 12 months of collaboration that has brought together thought leaders from industry, unions, governments, the community and educational institutions from across Victoria, the Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry is proud to release the Victoria Summit 2021 Playbook.
This is a critical point in our state’s history as the Playbook guides us toward a shared, bold and compelling future that we hope all Victorians can rally behind. This is a guide to help make Victoria the best place to live, learn, work and operate business, put together by our best and brightest minds.
The Playbook features 10 pillars, 46 pathways and 189 actions which are the culmination of 10,000 hours of work including a series of in-person and virtual Reference Group and Working Group meetings, as well as three public forums featuring keynote addresses from some of our current and former political leaders and emerging leaders.
The 10 pillars – Business, Skilled, Sustainable, Wellbeing, Inclusive, Most Liveable, Innovative, Globally Competitive, Experience and Connected – represent the areas where action must be undertaken across business and the economy, community, health and wellbeing and the future of work.
The pathways and actions build on existing regulation, policy and programs and identifies gaps and areas for improvement to make Victoria the best state it can be. We have not included specific policy positions to allow governments, oppositions and political parties the opportunity to adopt and shape the actions as part of their plans for Victoria.
The Victorian Summit 2021 Playbook will be officially launched tonight (Thursday, 24 February) at a gala event at Crown Melbourne. More information can be found online at victoriasummit.com.au
To be attributed to Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chief Executive Paul Guerra:
“The Victoria Summit 2021 has been a momentous journey that has seen unprecedented collaboration across industry, unions, educational institutions, community groups and government, culminating in more than 10,000 hours of work. It is owned by the hundreds of participants who contributed along the way: passionate, driven and visionary Victorians.
“We have been deliberate in bringing the leaders together across the State to ensure we are developing both relationships and solid ideas to ensure that Victoria is the best place to do live, work, learn and operate a business
“The Playbook will be a valuable tool for all decision-makers in Victoria, enabling them to pinpoint the areas that they can impact and make changes to deliberately and strategically set Victoria on a trajectory of international success. It is now up to individuals, organisations, governments and our community to turn these visions into reality. Pick them up and run with it!
“Thank you to all those involved in making this happen, especially our formidable Reference Group and Working Groups, led by their co-chairs. Your contributions will continue to drive our great state into a prosperous, successful and inspirational future.”
