Prominent Victorian leaders to headline Victoria Summit Pathways Day

Some of Victoria’s most prominent past and present leaders will feature in the Victoria Summit Pathways Day next week.

The second public forum of the Summit will feature Q&A discussions with four of Victoria’s past Premiers: Jeff Kennett AC, Steve Bracks AC, John Brumby AO and Ted Baillieu AO, who will share their personal insights on making tough decisions, how they accomplished some of their greatest achievements for Victoria, and their thoughts on how Victoria can leverage its strengths domestically and globally.

Attendees will also be inspired from lessons of leadership from a special Victorian Leaders Panel of Steph Ryan, Deputy Leader of The Nationals, Janet Whiting AM, Chair of Visit Victoria and Rana Hussain, Diversity and Inclusion Manager at Cricket Australia.

The Victoria Summit Pathways Day will bring together the best and brightest minds in the state to devise pathways for how we can achieve the visions that were established as part of the Visions Day in August.

During the day, Victoria’s thought leaders across industry, unions, governments, the community, and educational institutions will come together set the pathways towards achieving a shared, bold, compelling, and aspirational vision for our state.

Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chief Executive and Victoria Summit 2021 Reference Group Chair, Paul Guerra, said the Pathways Day will be a significant day in our state’s history.

“The Victoria Summit Pathways Day will be a critical point in our state’s history as our best and brightest unite to plan a shared, bold and compelling future that everyone can get behind to lead our state into economic recovery and make Victoria the best place to live, learn, work and operate business,” he said.

“The past 18 months have tested us professionally and personally, but Victorians continue to remain resilient and inspired – and we want to not only continue being the best across Australia in community, business, public service and government – but to be the pinnacle world-wide.

“The first part of the Victoria Summit provided us with the aspirational but achievable goals to work towards. This next round will determine the pathways needed to ensure we can develop and achieve these visions. We will continue working on the solutions to lead the recovery post-COVID-19 and secure our long-term prosperity for generations to come.”

The Pathways Day will empower attendees to affect change and implement thoughts and ideas within independently moderated breakout sessions featuring members of the Victoria Summit 2021 Reference Group and Working Groups.

Participants will also hear from Global Victoria international Trade and Investment Commissioners Tim Dillon (Agent-General to the UK and Commissioner for Victoria to Europe and Israel) and Nigel Warren (Commissioner for Victoria to the Americas) on the latest market insights and updates on global trends that will influence our state’s future prosperity.
